Welcome to Shushan Dance Studio! We offer Ballet Training & Cultural Dance in Tujunga, CA
Founded by former principal and soloist dancers of the National Ballet of Armenia, Shushanik Poghosyan and Aleksandr Khachaturov, Shushan Dance Studio is a premier ballet and cultural dance academy in Tujunga, California. With a combined 30+ years of coaching experience, our authentic Russian-Vaganova ballet training has transformed students into confident, disciplined dancers—whether preparing for major competitions, stage performances, or simply learning for personal growth.
Our Dance Programs:
Ballet Classes (Vaganova Method) – Train in professional ballet technique, whether beginner or advanced. Available in group and private lessons, students prepare for performances, auditions, and ballet competitions locally and internationally.
Cultural & Folk Dance – Explore Armenian, Spanish, Russian, Georgian etc. traditional dances, deepening an understanding of diverse cultures through movement.
Competitive Latin Ballroom (Dancesport) – Train for local, national, and international ballroom competitions.
At Shushan Dance Studio in Tujunga, we combine athleticism and artistry, developing coordination, musicality, and technique. Our patient, step-by-step teaching approach ensures that students—from age 3 to adults—progress efficiently while enjoying the freedom of dance.

Teachers
Graduated from the Yerevan State Ballet Academy, Shushan Poghosyan has extensive experience in advanced classes in ballet dance and the Vaganova method. Noticed as a fine dancer during her student years, she has toured around the world including Lebanon, Russia, France, Germany and Spain. However, she didn't stop there! She continued her dance education and studied ballroom and cultural dances which she selflessly teaches to all her students.
Shushan Poghosyan
Other than graduating from the Yerevan School of Choreography, Alexander taught classical ballet and stage acting at the same school. His interest in contemporary ballet led him to form his own company in Armenia where he could freely translate different musical languages including contemporary Armenian music into his creative and original pieces. He has performed all over the world and now combines teaching and choreography to build most of the studio's Choreographic works.
Alexander Khachaturov
Edgar possesses a strong foundation in classical ballet and traveled the world to study and compete in Latin ballroom, an impressive 7th place in the world at Blackpool, England, and becoming a finalist in the Dutch Open. Now, as a contemporary mover, he delves into the healing nature of movement. Edgar's philosophy centers on guiding students through fundamental principles of movement, aiming to harmonize the mind, body, and soul. He believes that everyone has a unique genius within them, and his goal is to help students forge a deep connection to their bodies, unlocking the vast innate intelligence that lies within through the art of movement.
